How Many Care Options are There?

According to one senior care website, there are at least 11 different types of care available to you. Some of these care options are not very realistic for most people (such as moving in with family in a different country), but some of them are very helpful and attainable, such as aging in place or assisted living.

For most people, care comes in only a couple different types: institutionalized or at home. Both can be great, but there are differences. Knowing which will help your loved one to live the highest quality of life is important, but this is often much easier said than done. Some guidance is often necessary if you want your loved one to get the most out of the care that they will receive.

For more information about the different types of senior care that exist near you, get in touch with your county’s Department of Senior Services, or whatever the local equivalent of that might be. If you need help determining what your loved one’s needs are, a physician can help. There are also local case managers that specialize in senior care planning that can help you get pointed in the right direction. When you get down to it, the sheer number of care options that exist can be overwhelming. Going with in-home care or home health care can seem like a tough choice, as can the sometimes minute differences between a senior living community and a continuing care living community. Having direction about what is needed in your loved one’s care, and then being shown which local resources can help you to accomplish those goals, is often a necessity if you want your elderly loved one to receive the high quality care that they deserve.

There are a lot of care options out there. The best one for you and your family does exist.

The important thing to remember isn’t how many types of care there are or what they are called, but rather that senior care is customizable. Your elderly loved one deserves exactly the type of care that he needs, and it is possible to get it. Depending on where you live, you may have more choices than others, but the ideal care for an elderly family member exists.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, we would love to help you find the best care. Through our free consultation service, we can go over what your options are, evaluate what needs exist, and determine if we’re a good match. Perhaps we are, and we can assist you moving forward. If we’re not a good match, we can help you to get pointed toward the resources that will help you out the most. These consultations come with no obligation on your part, so there’s no risk, only help.

After all, the only kind of senior care that really matters when you’re looking for help for a loved one is the kind that will help your family out the most. Our goal is to help you find that. Get in touch with us if you have questions that we can help answer.
