Emergency Training Matters

Senior care is just one part of a successful system that helps senior citizens to live better lives. Health care is also a bit part of the continued health and happiness that seniors deserve. Although these two things are closely related and there is quite a bit of overlap between the two, they are separate entities. Both play a vital role in the continued safety of your older loved ones.

When health needs are adequately met, senior care becomes a lot easier and more effective. There are several examples of this that could be pointed to. Case studies have looked at senior living communities that did not have urgent care services present on their campus and evaluated patient turnover. After urgent care services were implemented, they found that in many cases, patient turnover was reduced by a staggering amount. There were a number of reasons why this happened, but two of the main reasons were that the patients and their families were more content with the level of care and assistance that was given once the medical help was instituted and that the patients kept higher levels of health and there was no need for them to be transferred somewhere else.

When a care home has the right training, those that live there are able to live a higher quality of life. The same goes for those receiving in-home care. When these individuals are healthier, the companionship and help that a caregiver without medical training supplies is more than enough to maintain current health.

When health needs are adequately met, the quality of life for someone receiving care goes up significantly. Emergency training plays a large role in this.

This does not mean that a caregiver does not need any sort of preparation for doing their job, though. Knowing what to do in the event of a health emergency is a valuable skill for a caregiver, and can lead to better health for years to come. For example, if a stroke is spotted in the early stages, the chances of a favorable outcome go up significantly. If a stroke is left untreated for two hours–which can easily happen if there is no one around to observe it or if the warning signs are not recognized–the chances of permanent disability or death go up dramatically. Emergency training in a caregiver can help not just to save lives, but to make sure that a high quality of life is maintained.

That is why we take great pains at Paradise In-Home Care to ensure that all of our employees are fully trained in this area before they are sent out into the field. The chances of an emergency situation occurring are slim, but they do happen. And if it happens to someone in your family, you deserve to have someone who will respond quickly and appropriately helping you out.

If you have questions about what our in-home care services can do for you and your family, and how the right training can make a world of difference, give us a call. We can schedule a free consultation and help you to determine what the right kind of care is for your elderly loved one and your family.
