Relying on Web Reviews

When you are thinking of going to a new restaurant or to a newly released movie, it’s common to go to the internet. The web is a great place to go to for information, especially if you are researching something that you’re unfamiliar with. Senior care is one of those areas where most people don’t know a whole lot about the ins and outs of the process, and the web tends to be one of the first places that people go to find out more information.

There is a lot of great information out there, but reviews can be unreliable at times. Think about it; when are you most likely to leave a review for something? Usually, the only time that most people think to leave a review is when an experience is either really good or really bad. On venues like Amazon where hundreds or even thousands of reviews are available, you will tend to see a more accurate picture of what people think about a product. For things like senior care services, where there are only a couple dozen reviews, the information is not going to be quite as accurate as you would hope for.

Checking out web reviews of senior care services can be a good start, but you will need more info to make a decision.

Unfortunately, something like personalized senior care cannot be summed up very well in a quick customer review. It can reveal some information, but more than likely this isn’t going to be enough information for you to make any sort of informed decision about a caregiver or a care service. If someone had a really good or a really bad experience, you will learn about it, but that doesn’t necessarily translate well into useful information.

The web can be a great place to start your search for senior care, especially if you are comfortable using the internet and evaluating whether a source is credible or not. Online reviews, like those found on Google, Yelp, Facebook, and other sites, can also be incredibly helpful. However, they are only a portion of what you should be looking at when choosing the right caregiver for a loved one. Meeting with the caregiver that will be working directly with your family member, along with a representative from the company’s management is absolutely necessary to get a good idea of whether this will be a helpful route or not. Although online reviews can help you to select a starting point, they can’t give you any valuable information regarding whether the caregiver service will mesh well with your loved one’s needs.

That’s why we offer a free consultation here at Paradise In-Home Care. We are confident that we have some of the best caregivers in the Bay Area, but that doesn’t mean that they are the best caregivers for you and your family. Get in touch with us today to schedule your meeting, and we can both gain a better idea of how our services will match up with what you are looking for out of a caregiver. Regardless of how great our reviews might or might not be, the only way to get a strong idea of whether we can help you is to meet us.
